Leh, Jan 24: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) and First Lady, Smt Neelam Mishra, participated in the Foundation Day of Uttar Pradesh at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat. All the 28 states and 8 union territories of India are celebrating the Uttar Pradesh Diwas/ Foundation Day of Uttar Pradesh at their respective Raj Bhawans/Raj Niwas as a part of the central government’s push under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme to celebrate cultural diversity and different traditions of the country. It was on 24 January 1950 that the United Provinces was renamed as Uttar Pradesh. In May 2017, the Government of Uttar Pradesh declared to celebrate UP Day on 24 January every year.
Appreciating the vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India to foster unity and integrity among the people from different states of India, HLG stated that the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme has proven beneficial to understanding people and diverse cultures of different states. He informed about the cultural troops from Ladakh comprising students who were sent to different Raj Niwas and Raj Bhawans to perform on the UT Ladakh Foundation Day last year and the positive response from the respective Governors and Lieutenant Governors of the states/UTs. He also stated that the spirit of unity from the programme initiated by Shri Narendra Modi ji has been tremendous.
Highlighting the historical and religious significance of cities in Uttar Pradesh, the HLG termed the academic level of scholars from Uttar Pradesh as exemplary. He highlighted the important culture of providing education at home by the elders along with the prevalence of composite culture in Uttar Pradesh.
The HLG highlighted the important contribution of Uttar Pradesh to the nation’s GDP. He also highlighted various infrastructure developments and investments from outside countries taking place in Uttar Pradesh. Highlighting the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji’s Viksit Bharat @2047 vision to make India a developed nation by 2047- the 100th year of India’s independence, the HLG asked everyone for their contribution to achieve the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s dream.
Advisor to the HLG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS, highlighted the rich legacy of Uttar Pradesh which showcases the distinct Indian culture. He also highlighted various Hindu pilgrimage sites in Uttar Pradesh, the contribution of the state in the nation’s GDP and agriculture sector. He also congratulated the people of Uttar Pradesh, especially those serving in Ladakh, on their Foundation Day.
Personnel from Uttar Pradesh, who are serving in armed and paramilitary forces, shared their experiences of working in Ladakh and the unique features of their state.
Earlier, the Secretary to the HLG, Shri Ravinder Kumar, IAS, informed about the celebration of the Foundation Day of all States/UTs at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme as directed by the Ministry of Home Affairs. He informed that Uttar Pradesh is the largest state in India in terms of population.
