Center of Excellence: Patients to get AYUSH, Allopathy treatment under one roof in Jammu GMC

Jammu, Jan 04: With a motive to provide better health care services to the people, the Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu is all set to provide AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy) and Allopathy treatment to the patients under one roof.
Sources in the health department said that the government will be starting the AYUSH Center of Excellence in Jammu GMC by next two weeks.
“Arrangements are being made to provide allopathy medical facilities along with AYUSH to the patients under one roof,” official sources said.
They added that there is a plan to start AYUSH Center of Excellence (CoE) in Jammu GMC in next two weeks, adding, “in the first medical center in the division, efforts will be made to provide better treatment from both the medical systems, especially to the patients battling with chronic diseases.”
They said that with the start of AYUSH and Allopathy systems of medical science, the research activities will also get a boost.
“Patients suffering from diseases like cancer and chronic surgeries will be relieved with the introduction of this system in the hospital,” they said.
Sources said that in Integrated Medicine, AYUSH system of medicine will be given along with normal treatment.
Quoting an example, they said that cancer patients undergoing a treatment in GMC are also advised yoga, which will become part of their treatment at the Center of Excellence.
Similarly, they said that facilities like massage therapy, enema, basti special treatment, Panchakarma will also be available.
“Diseases related to nerves (blood circulation) are also rapidly increasing for which special centers will provide natural therapy,” they said.
“In chronic diseases, the patient tries to get relief from the AYUSH medical system instead of allopathy treatment. Medicine and surgery department under AYUSH will jointly work to treat the patients,” they said.
Sources revealed that treatment for piles, fistula etc. will also be available in AYUSH with 100 percent success rate.
“A plan to start the AYUSH Center of Excellence in the hospital within the next two weeks will soon get wings and it will gradually be expanded,” said an official.
He said that 25 to 30 AYUSH OPDs are taking place in the existing hospital, but with the opening of the new indoor block, OPDs will also increase.
