Kargil, Jan 04: Chairman/Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akoon today held a meeting with the representatives of National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), NR Gosh and Manoj Solanki.
The meeting discussed the benefits of creation of Pasteurization Plant in Kargil. The representatives also informed the CEC that the NDDB will create federation of all milk societies of Kargil which are registered with the Cooperative Department.
Furthermore, CEC Kargil was also informed that the NDDB’s expertise would help in establishing robust milk procurement and processing system in Kargil and would help undertaking scientific productivity enhancement activities with focus on animal breeding, nutrition and health.
The CEC was also informed that the development of dairy sector in the region will provide avenue for the employment of local youth and more milk creation and distribution market in the district.
While responding to the proposal projected by the representatives of NDDB, CEC Dr Jaffer said that the project has potential to develop dairy sector in Kargil.
The CEC also said that the perceptive of local stakeholders working in dairy fields should also include in the development of project.
CEC Dr Jaffer stressed not to hamper the economy of local milk producers. He said the pasteurization plant should enhance the economy of local milk producers along with providing new avenues for local entrepreneurs.
Responding to the question of land availability for establishment of pasteurization plant, CEC Kargil assured to write a letter to DC Kargil for future necessary action.
The meeting was attended by Executive Councilor, Er. Punchok Tashi, Director Animal Husbandry, Dr Mohd Iqbal, CHO Leh and Kargil, DRC Kargil besides other concerned officers.
