Kargil, Jan 04: During a crucial telephonic meeting led by Chairman/CEC LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, with Hon’ble LG Ladakh Brig. (Retd.) Dr. BD Mishra, Hon’ble Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, and Principal DG Akashwani, Dr. Vasudha Gupta, various pressing matters regarding the current status of Akashwani Kargil were thoroughly discussed.
The CEC highlighted the condition of Akashwani Kargil stations at Baroo, 200Kw HPT, 1 Kw Stations at Drass, Tai Suru, Padum and 10 Kw Hombotingla. The emergence of these issues is attributed to DDG Post’s relocation following AIR Leh’s designation as a Cluster station.
Highlighting the strategic significance of Akashwani Kargil in generating programs in Purgi, Balti, Shina and Zanskari, Dr Jaffer advocated for a separate cluster for Kargil, considering the area’s strategic and topographical importance.
Additionally, the CEC Kargil proposed an extension of transmission timings, commencing the morning transmission with local news and broadcasting local programs from allied stations to enhance regional coverage.
Assurances were received from Hon’ble Minister Anurag Thakur and Dr. Vasudha Gupta, assured their attention to redress the highlighted issues and considering the recommendations proposed by CEC.
This meeting marks a pivotal step in acknowledging the challenges Akashwani Kargil faces and sets the groundwork for potential improvements in the station’s operations and coverage.
Later, the CEC held a detailed discussion with the officials of Aakashwani Kargil in a meeting as a follow-up of the discussions held with Hon’ble Union Minister for I&B and Hon’ble LG Ladakh.
