Jammu, Dec 29: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to flag off the new Delhi-Katra Vande Bharat train from the national capital on Saturday.
Official sources said that the train equipped with modern facilities will have halts at more than six stations till Delhi and vice versa.
“The new Vande Bharat train will also have additional stops at Udhampur, Kathua and Pathankot Cantt.The train will leave from Katra at 11 am and will reach Manwal, Udhampur, Kathua and Pathankot Cantt at 4 pm,” he said.
The official added that a program has been circulated from Delhi headquarters that another Vande Bharat train will be run from Katra to Delhi on December 30, adding, “on the first day, apart from the main stations, the train will also stop at smaller stations.”
“Only flag off will take place on December 30,” he added and said that the new Vande Bharat train running between Katra and Jammu from December 30 will also have a halt at Manwal railway station.
“Stopping the express train for the first time will not only provide convenience to the passengers but will also enhance the economy of the area,” he added.
The distance between Jammu and Manwal railway station is 44 km, he said adding that till date, this area had no stoppage, adding, “the stoppage of Vande Bharat will provide a lot of convenience to the people, because earlier they had to go to Jammu or Udhampur for the train.”
“Halt of express trains at small stations will give impetus to development. Railways should also stop express trains at Vijaypur, Hiranagar and Samba stations so that the common people, army and paramilitary forces can get convenience and they do not have to go to Jammu or Kathua to board the facility,” he added.
