Kargil, Dec 27: The 4th District Level Advisory Committee (DLAC) meeting on Safe Food and Healthy Diet was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Shrikant Suse.
The meeting focused on crucial discussions regarding different issues related to food safety in the district.
During the meeting, DC Kargil instructed Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kargil to collaborate with the Food Safety Drugs and Food Control Organization Kargil in providing training to all Auxillary Nurse Midwives (ANM) and Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs). This training aims to enhance their knowledge and skills in ensuring safe food practices and promoting a healthy diet.
To ensure the safety of meals served in educational institutions, the Department of Food Safety was directed to conduct sampling of all Mid-Day Meal (MDM) schools and Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) centers across the entire district. Additionally, the registration of college campus canteens under the Eat Right Campus initiative was emphasized, highlighting the commitment to encouraging healthy eating habits among students.
Furthermore, the District Programme Officer of ICDS was entrusted with the responsibility of facilitating FSSAI registration for all ICDS centers. The Assistant Director of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs (FCS & CA) Kargil was instructed to expedite the registration process of pending FCS stores.
Recognizing the importance of organic farming and endorsing organic produce, the Chief Agriculture Officer was directed to initiate the process of obtaining organic endorsement in District Kargil.
Additionally, the Food Safety Department was instructed to collaborate with the Agriculture Department to gather details regarding certified organic areas certificates as well as conducting intensive market checking to ensure strict compliance of food safety standards.
Concluding the meeting, Food Safety Magic Boxes were distributed to the Education Department by the Food Safety Department, DFCO, through Deputy Commissioner Kargil.
These Magic Boxes symbolize the commitment of district administration to promote safe food practices and a healthy diet.
The meeting was attended by esteemed individuals including the Vice-Chairperson, CMO Kargil, CEO Kargil, CAO, District Programme Officer, ICDS, General Manager, DIC Kargil, Assistant Director FCS & CA, and Dysp Kargil.
