Leh, Dec 25: Lieutenant Governor Brigadier B D Mishra on Monday released a magazine based on Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s selected poems, and paid rich tributes to the former Prime Minister of India, on his birth anniversary.
The Lieutenant Governor also inaugurated an exhibition of ancient coins on the occasion, in Kanpur of Uttar Pradesh.
An exhibition of ancient coins was organised at Kidwai Nagar Ghanshyam Das School in Kanpur on Monday on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, where Lieutenant Governor Brigadier B D Mishra was the chief guest.
Mishra, accompanied by First Lady Neelam Mishra was given a guard of honour upon his arrival as he inaugurated the exhibition by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
At the event, Lieutenant Governor released a magazine of the collection of the poems of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Addressing the people, the Lieutenant Governor said that Atal Bihari Vajpayee was among the best orators the country ever had.
“He was not only a great statesman and an able prime minister, but also a great human being,” the LG reminisced.
He also spoke of one of Vajpayee’s poems, where he had said: ‘Struggle of truth is against power, justice is fighting tyranny, darkness has challenged the last ray and everything is at stake; We cannot stop, we can break, but we cannot bow down’.
The Lieutenant Governor also visited the various stalls set up at the exhibition and checked the ancient coins on the display.
The exhibition had religious coins, twenty-five paisa coins, ten and twenty paisa coins, one paisa coins. At the same time, other coins were seen.
Later, the Lieutenant Governor also witnessed the cultural activities performed by the students on the occasion.
Member of Parliament Satyadev Pachauri, Member of Legislative Assembly Mahesh Trivedi, Bundelkhand President Prakash Pal along with other notable personalities were also present in the program, said an official.
