It is important to mention that Bengal all the way from ancient times have produced many luminary Buddhists, who tirelessly worked for laying a firm Buddhist foundation and civilization in the Himalayas.
One such was Atisha Dipankara from Vikramashila University in the 10th Century, who after the ruthless suppression of Buddhist King Langdarma of Tibet, tirelessly worked to reinstate Buddhism in Tibet, the Snow Land. Sri Aurobindo’s views on Buddhism have become more relevant in the present turmoil world.
