Leh, Dec 07: Member of Parliament from Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal on Thursday sought proper safeguard for the preservation and promotion of extinguishing language, race and culture of Aryan, Shinna, Balti civilisations with special emphasis on protecting tribal culture of Ladakh UT.
The BJP MP from Ladakh, who was speaking at the winter session of the Parliament, tabled various issues and problems of tribal population of Himalayas particularly of UT Ladakh. He emphasised to protect at UN heritage level of vulnerable tribal communities from UT Ladakh.
While welcoming the passage of the Central Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2023, marking a crucial step forward in the establishment of “Sammakka Sarakka Central Tribal University” in Telangana, the Ladakh MP hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Education Dharmender Pradhan for envisioning to develop the said university to pay tributes to tribal culture and contributions of legendary tribal leader Birsa Munda and other respected personalities from tribal communities in India.
He also requested the union government to grant relaxation in population criteria for the open Eklavya Model School in Himalaya where population is lesser in terms of geography.
Further, the MP congratulated the tribal community of India for passage of the Tribal University Amendment Bill in Lok Sabha and called upon the non-tribal communities to enroll into the Tribal University so as to explore and acknowledge the tribal cultures of India.
