 Women Police Station Leh in collaboration with the Special Cell for Women organized a comprehensive awareness program on child sexual abuse and personal safety education today at Ladakh Public School, Leh.

Sub-Inspector Lobzang Choszom from the Women Police Station Leh, led the program alongside Mr. Amir, A dedicated social worker at Special Cell for Women & Children at Women Police Station Leh. The event cantered on personal safety education, particularly addressing the sensitive issue of child sexual abuse. The target audience comprised more than 350 students ranging from 2nd to 5th standard at Ladakh Public School, Leh, who actively engaged in the enlightening session, accompanied by their teachers.

As part of the program, the children were presented with the impactful movie ‘Komal’ by Childline, shedding light on the subject of child sexual abuse. The session covered crucial topics such as safe and unsafe touches, the importance of recognizing private parts as private, understanding one’s body and rights, identifying grooming behaviors, and appropriate responses in such challenging situations.

By imparting knowledge and promoting open dialogue, the initiative aims to equip the younger generation with the awareness and confidence needed to protect themselves and their peers. The program is specially organised and designed with the commitment to fostering a safer environment for the children of Ladakh.
