Students showcase talent in UT-Level Role Play, Folk Dance competition

A UT-Level Role Play and Folk Dance competition was held at DIET Leh on December 4 wherein students from different schools showcased their talent.

The event brought together students from Higher Secondary School Skurbuchan, Higher Secondary School Akchamal, High School Shara, and High School Mulbik, under the aegis of the National Population Scheme of NCERT.

The Role Play competition centered around themes, including growing up healthy, nutritious food and well-being, personal safety encompassing physical, mental, emotional, and sexual aspects, safe use of the internet, gadgets, and media literacy, as well as substance abuse and its causes and prevention.

On the Folk Dance front, participants explored themes such as equal opportunities for boys and girls, the role of joint families in a child’s development, environmental protection, prevention of substance abuse, and fostering healthy relationships during adolescence.

The judges of events were Padma Shri Awardee Morup Namgail, Deputy Secretary Cultural Academy Kargil, Nazir Ahmad, and Deputy Secretary, Cultural Academy Leh Tsewang Paljor overseeing the performances.

In the Role Play category, Higher Secondary School Skurbuchan secured the first position, while Higher Secondary School Akchamal secured the second spot. Meanwhile, in the Folk Dance competition, High School Shara secured the first position, and High School Wakha Mulbik secured the second position.

As the event concluded, Padma Shri awardee Morup Namgail shared his insights into the rich cultural heritage of Ladakh. He emphasized the paramount importance of preserving culture and tradition through mediums like Role Play and Folk Dance.

Deputy Secretary, Cultural Academy Leh, Tsewang Paljor and Deputy Secretary,Cultural Academy, Kargil, Nazir Ahmad, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing that social values can be preserved through the expressive arts, and these mediums play a crucial role in eradicating social stigmas.

Principal, DIET Leh, Chetan Dorjey assured to continue such programs in the future also. He extended his congratulations to the winners and participants, acknowledging the significant role these events play in fostering cultural awareness and social harmony.
