Parts of plains lash by intermittent rains, higher reaches experiences snowfall in J&K

Srinagar, Nov 02: Rains lash parts of Kashmir valley including Srinagar while several higher reaches experienced a fresh snowfall resulting in drop in temperature on Thursday.
Director Meteorological Centre Srinagar Dr Mukhtar Ahmad said that snowfall has started in the ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir this evening and there is a possibility snowfall could occur on the higher reaches of J&K tonight.
He said there will be intermittent light to moderate rainfall in plains tonight and the weather is very likely to be normal from Friday.
The weather will mainly remain dry from November 3-6 while fairly to generally cloudy with possibility of light Snow over isolated higher reaches from November 7-8, he said.
From November 9-10 the weather will be generally cloudy with Light rain or snow over a few higher reaches, he said and added overall there is no significant weather activity till November 10.
Razdan top in Jammu Kashmir’s Bandipora district has received fresh light snowfall during late night, the possibility of light snowfall also likely to occur at higher reaches of Kupwara, Sonamarg and Gulmarg.
Kashmir weather an independent forecaster Faizan Arif says under the influence of a very weak Western Disturbance, light rain or snow can occur in a few areas today, especially in some parts of north Kashmir.
Overall, no significant weather activity is expected during the next 10 days, he said.
Srinagar and its adjoining areas experienced intermittent rainfall disrupting the normal life and causing dip in the temperature.
He said the minimum temperature in Kashmir plains to settle down between 2 and 5°C, while maximum temperatures can hover around 20 – 22°C.
The minimum temperature recorded in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, at 6.7°C on Thursday, Qazigund 4.0°C, Pahalgam 2.8°C, Kupwara 8.5°C, Kokernag 6.5 and Gulmarg 3.9°C, the MeT office said.
