Leh, Oct 29: District police Leh on Sunday claimed to have arrested two people along with large quantity of liquor illegally stored for sale.
As per officials, on the evening of October 26, 2023, Police Post Choglamsar received information that a rented house near CIBS School, Choglamsar was being used to store illegal liquor with the intent to sale. Acting on this information, a police team conducted thorough search of the premises and successfully seized 165 cans of Kingfisher Beer (500ml) and 41 Bottles of Rum (750ml).
The illegal liquor was confiscated from the possession of two individuals identified as Laxmi Gahatraj Sunar, wife of Santosh Sunar hailing from Hetanda, Ward No. 03, District Makawanpur, Nepal and June BK Nagar Koto, wife of Sunder Nagar Koto residing in Gokarnaskar, Ward No. 08, Shiva Pori, Kathmandu, Nepal, said the official.
In this connection, a case under relevant sections of IPC, vide FIR No 186/2023, under Section 48(a) of the Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Leh.
