National Games: J&K opens account, wins silver, bronze medals in rhythmic gymnastics, netball

Jammu, Oct 25: It was a good start for the contingent of Jammu and Kashmir as the rhythmic gymnastic and netball teams have won silver and bronze medals respectively in the 37th National Games underway at Goa.

As per the J&K Sports Council official, Jammu and Kashmir won a silver medal in the rhythmic gymnastics team led by Shivangi, Sneha Dewan, Himani Gupta and Viomini Dogra.

Krupali Singh and Manisha Gupta are accompanying the squad as Coaches.

Meanwhile in the netball discipline, the J&K team won a bronze medal.

The team was comprised of Akash Batra, captain, Amit Sharma, Akshit Arora, Nishant Bali, Abhishek, Dhruv Gupta, Maverick Batra, Sarish Jolly, Sidharth Mahajan, Sourabh Anand, Arif Khan and Abhinav Sharma.

Mohin Gupta has accompanied the squad as a coach, Sumit Sharma as assistant coach and Mohit Kumar as manager.

Extending greetings, Secretary J&K Sports Council Nuzhat Gull said, “I congratulate the gymnastics and netball players and their coaches for splendid performance and winning medals in the National Games. It is a pride moment for Jammu and Kashmir.”

She said that J&K athletes are proving their mettle in the sports sector and the J&K administration is committed to provide world class facilities loaded infrastructure to the athletes to excel at national and international platforms.

Secretary, Youth Services and Sports, J&K government, Sarmad Hafeez and Member, J&K Sports Council, Ranjit Kalra, who has accompanied the contingent as Chef De Mission has also congratulated the athletes and hoped that the J&K will definitely excel in other disciplines as well to swell their medal tally.
