Saroor Jammu, Oct 22: Following directives of the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on holding ‘Monthly Darbar’, as many as 25,000 officers have tightened their belts to reach out ‘aam admi’ at their doorsteps across the Union Territory.
Official sources said that the administration has geared up yet again to reach out to every Panchayat to ensure holistic and inclusive development of every region.
‘Babus’ are on toes to visit the panchayats across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to bridge the gap between the administration and the public, they said.
“The administrative secretaries have been instructed to prepare a draft of their activities and programs, which can be implemented during the campaign,” they said.
Notably, LG Manoj Sinha directed the senior officials to attend ‘Monthly Darbar’ in all districts to resolve grievances of the citizens, understand their issues and requirements to build a system which provides abundant opportunities for growth and development for all sections of society.
Sources further said, “the Rural Development Department has been designated as the nodal agency for conducting the campaign to be supervised and monitored by around 25,000 government officers/employees and more than 4500 will spend a day or two in each Panchayat.”
“The administration is again preparing to initiate “Gaon Ki Aur” campaign and if all goes well, the fifth phase of the campaign will begin by the end of this month,” said an official.
He stated that the “Gaun Ki Aur” program, named as ‘Back to Village’ or ‘Aao Gaon Chale’ was commenced by the then Jammu and Kashmir administration in the year 2018 to ensure the development of villages in accordance with the aspirations of the people of rural areas.
In the first phase, the campaign was limited only to deliberations, contact and coordination with the public. In November 2019, the program was focused on the development of rural areas and addressing issues of public interest to villagers.
The fourth phase was organized in November, 2022 and this time the campaign will run simultaneously in all the panchayats across the Union Territory.
LG Sinha however, recently in a meeting directed that all the departments should start preparation for Back to Village-V and work in a cohesive manner with Panchayati Raj Institutions to achieve better outcome of government initiatives and make villages progressive and prosperous.
