Leh, Oct 18:  A group of Member of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) from Haryana Vidhan Sabha was on an official study tour to the Union Territory of Ladakh. The purpose of the tour was to engage with the Rural Development Department (RDD) officers in Ladakh and discuss matters related to local governance and development.

Chaired by the MLA, Ram Kumar Kashyap, the meeting was conducted to foster dialogue and collaboration between the visiting delegation and the officials in Ladakh. Leading the proceedings was Amit Sharma, Secretary of RDD in Ladakh, ensuring that the meeting ran smoothly and productively.

The meeting saw the participation of key figures including Secretary to Speaker, Vishu Dev, and members of the MLA delegation, Ram Kumar Gautam and  Surender Panwar. Special invitee, MLA Ram Niwas, was also present to contribute to the discussions.

During the meeting, Secretary RDD, Amit Sharma, emphasized several significant points, including the need to promote self-help groups in villages, support for local handicrafts and Ayurvedic products, and the prospect of establishing an ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) Centre in Ladakh. He further disclosed plans for a sky observatory in Hanley and highlighted the untapped potential of solar energy, which could be harnessed and even exported from Ladakh.

Additionally, he shed light on the abundant mineral resources in Ladakh, indicating the administration’s commitment to focus on their development in the future.

Director of RDD, Ladakh, Tahir Hussain, provided a comprehensive overview of the financial and physical progress of developmental projects within different blocks and panchayats.

The meeting was attended by the District Panchayat Officer, Leh, along with Block Development Officers and Panchayat Inspectors from various blocks.
