CBC’s two-day ICOP cum photo exhibition begins in Kargil

Kargil, Oct 13: A two-day Integrated Communication cum Outreach Programme (ICOP) cum photo exhibition organized by Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India commenced at Kargil today. The ICOP is being held at Hussaini Memorial Hall, Kargil and was inaugurated by Additional District Commissioner (ADC) Kargil Sh Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Wani.

The programme will cover the themes of “9 Years of Seva, Sushasan and Garib Kalyan”, “Mission LiFE” and India’s G20 Presidency besides highlighting key achievements and landmark decisions taken by the  Central Government in the last nine years.

Speaking as Chief Guest on the occasion, Sh Wani congratulated CBC for organising the programme and thanked them for choosing Kargil as the venue. He expressed the desire that more such programmes are conducted at the block and tehsil level so that the message of development can be directly conveyed to the people at personal level.

Making a mention of some landmark decisions of the Central Government like NEP 2020, he said that all people especially students should come forward and take maximum benefit from the schemes. He also urged students to concentrate on their studies and not let any deviations derail them from their goals.

Sh Wani said that Ladakh is highly vulnerable to the effects of climate change and every individual should take care of the environment in mission mode. He emphasized upon those present to adopt the principles of Mission LiFE and take care of their surroundings.

He also witnessed the photo exhibition set up on the occasion by CBC.

Lecturer, DIET Kargil, Sh Syed Abdullah Shah gave a detailed presentation on the highlights and benefits of NEP 2020. He said that school enrolments have witnessed an upward trend since implementation of the policy as the fear of schools has vanished among the children. He said that NEP 2020 focuses on building a strong foundational base for the students so that they are equipped to face any challenge during the course of their career.

Sh Shah said that access, equality, quality and accountability are the four pillars of NEP 2020 and the implementation of the policy is a watershed moment in India’s education system. He said that the policy focuses on skills and not just knowledge and trains students to meet the challenges and requirements of the current knowledge economy.

Block Coordinator, Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) Kargil, Ms Twahira Batool, spoke in detail about the implementation of the ICDS scheme in Kargil. She said that with the help of Anganwadi Workers and ASHAs, beneficiaries are provided information related to health, nutrition, vaccination and education. She said that the scheme covers pregnant and lactating women and children in the age group of 0-6 years and takes holistic care of all their needs.

Ms Batool said that besides pre natal and post natal care, the scheme also provides referral services for specialized treatment and that 11, 453 beneficiaries have availed the services of the scheme since its inception. She added that educational needs of children are also given due attention besides the healthcare facilities provided to them.

Earlier in the programme, Field Publicity Officer, CBC Field Office Leh, Aamir Amin Nowshahri welcomed the guests and thanked district administration Kargil and concerned departments for their support in organizing the programme. He also threw light on the theme of the ICOP and photo exhibition.

More than 200 participants including school students took part in the programme. The programme also witnessed cultural performances from students of various schools. An open quiz for students was also conducted during the programme and prizes were distributed among winners.

The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Field Publicity Assistant, CBC Field Office Srinagar Sh Sikandar Qureshi.
