Lecturers appointed, promoted to meet faculty crisis in Jammu GMC

Jammu, Oct 05: The faculty crisis in the Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu is over with recruitment of lecturers and several promotions to reform the academics in the health and medical department.

Official sources said that the Department of Health and Medical Education have appointed faculty under academic arrangement to meet the shortage in the medical colleges.

“More than six professionals have been appointed to the post of Assistant in the new Medical Colleges, while eight lecturers have also been promoted to the next level,” sources added.

They said that the Health and Medical Education Department appointed Dr. Kausar Jan as Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology in Medical College, Handwara while Dr. Shaukat Ahmed Mir has been appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology in Medical College, Anantnag.

However, sources said that Dr. Abdul Hameed Dar has been appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Community Medicine, Medical College, Baramulla, Dr. Syed Vakil Ahmed has been appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Dentistry in Medical College Udhampur.

Sources revealed that Dr Jan Mohammad Rather has been appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery, Medical College, Handwara, Dr. Mohammad Muneeb Mushisar as Assistant Professor in the Department of Dentistry, Medical College, Handwara.

Sources stated that eight lecturers have been promoted in the Government Medical College Jammu as in-charge assistant professors without any change in their pay scale.

They said that Dr. Anupama Shah and Dr. Jageendra Singh in the medicine department, Dr. Syed Maqbool Shah in cardiology, Dr. Anil Kumar, Dr. Lakhbir Singh and Dr. Pallavi Mahajan in biochemistry, Dr. Santosh Devi and Dr. in anesthesia. Jasmine Choudhary has been promoted.

Similarly, in Government Medical College, Srinagar, Dr. Allaf Hussain Kambe has been made Associate Professor in Pediatric Hematology and Dr. Syedad Javed Farooq has been as Associate Professor in Surgery.
