Leh, Oct 05: A two day seminar ‘Historical Perspective of Ladakh : Crossroads of Civilisations’ was inaugurated today at Rinchen Auditorium, Leh under the aegis of Fire and Fury Corps.
The seminar will cover a host of issues ranging from History of Ladakh, the boundary disputes, geo strategic significance and the wars fought in the region post-independence.
The Seminar will also touch upon the various infrastructure development projects that are being undertaken including the ‘Vibrant Village Scheme’. It will be attended by 350 to 400 personnel of the Indian Army, Indian Airforce, Indo Tibetan Border Police, Civil Administration Officials from UT of Ladakh and faculty and research students of Ladakh University, Central institute of Buddhist Studies, Jawahar Lal Nehru University, University of Jammu and University of Kashmir. Eminent civil and military speakers with vast experience and knowledge on the subject have been invited to deliver talks on various issues during the course of the seminar.
The keynote address of the seminar was delivered by the Hon’ble LG of Ladakh,
Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) on 05 Oct 2023 and the closing address will be delivered by General Officer Commanding in Chief, Northern Command on 06 Oct 2023.The Seminar would serve as a platform to augment the awareness of the historical perspective of Ladakh, which has been at the crossroads of Asia for thousands of years and has seen many cultures and empires in the region.
