Leh, Oct 01: An insightful lecture on ‘Geopolitics and Strategic Significance of Ladakh’ was organized by Yuva Bharat at Leh Campus, University of Ladakh wherein Prof. Virender Koundal, Director, Department of strategic and Regional studies, University of Jammu was the invited speaker.
Yuva Bharat, a dynamic youth organization committed to fostering knowledge and understanding, held a captivating lecture on the geopolitics and strategic importance of Ladakh. The program started with a warm welcome to the distinguished speaker, Prof. Virender Koundal by Vice Chancellor Prof. S. K. Mehta by traditional khataks and memento.
The stage was managed by Miss. Fatima Parveen, a student from Economics Department. The introduction about Yuva Bharat was delivered by Dr. Kailash B. Goswami, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, Leh Campus, UoL. Balwinder Kumar, Organizational General Secretary, Ladakh Phanday Tsogspa was also present in the program.
Prof. Koundal started the lecture with historical background of Ladakh’s rich history and its role in trade and cultural exchange over the centuries. He discussed about Geopolitical Context of Ladakh’s strategic location at the crossroads of South Asia, Central Asia, and China, and its impact on regional dynamics and a comprehensive analysis of the border disputes in Ladakh, with a focus on recent developments and their implications.
The lecture attracted a diverse audience, including students, scholars, and faculty members of the Ladakh University who were eager to deepen their understanding of this crucial subject. The speakers’ expertise and engaging presentations left a lasting impact, sparking meaningful discussions and questions from the audience.
