Leh, Sept 22: Continuing its past practice of sponsoring lunch to visiting Super Specialists doctors from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi, Sixteen (16) Friends Society this time too sponsored the lunch of visiting doctors during the ‘Annual Charitable Camp’ held at SNM Hospital here.
The five-day camp was organized by LAHDC LEH in collaboration with Ashoka Mission. During the camp, Super Specialist Doctors from AIIMS Delhi screened patients at SNM Hospital Leh.
Sonam Angchuk Kharpon, President, Sixteen Friends Society, said that they had been sponsoring the lunch for doctors of AIIMS New Delhi who come to Ladakh every year with the noble cause. “They travel to remote areas of Ladakh to screen patients, and we too contribute our bit with this gesture,” he said.
The visiting super-specialist doctors highly appreciated the gesture of 16 Friends Society and expressed their gratitude for the love and affection they received from the people of Ladakh.
It is to mention that, since 1995, 16 Friends is actively extending charity and humanitarian support in Ladakh including voluntary and financial support during the Kargil War, 2010 Flash flood and in providing financial and medical support to the poor and needy patients of Ladakh.
In collaboration with Ashoka Mission and LAHDC, Leh, 16 Friends also bears the cost of food at SNM Hospital Leh for the super specialist doctors of AIIMS, Delhi yearly.
