Leh, Sept 16: The National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP) under State TB Cell, NHM UT Ladakh successfully concluded a comprehensive two-day workshop aimed at enhancing the counseling soft skills of frontline staff on September 15 at the Conference Hall of the Mission Director, National Health Mission Office Leh.
The workshop brought together NTEP Staff of Dist Kargil and Leh. The event provided a platform for participants to acquire and sharpen the essential soft skills required for effective patient counseling.
This workshop was a significant step towards strengthening the fight against tuberculosis in the region.
The resource persons for the training program were Prof. (Dr.) Beena Antony Reji, Dr Rekha Gupta, Anil and Mohd Haneef from Saksham Pravaah Tata Institute of Social Science (TISS) and Aditi Mahavidyalaya (University of Delhi) respectively.
On the first day, Deachen Spalzes SPO NTEP welcomed the trainers and trainees to the capacity building training program.
The workshop featured engaging and interactive sessions where participants learned the art of active listening, empathy, and effective communication.
The practical exercises by the trainers allowed attendees to simulate real-life counselling scenarios, enabling them to apply newly acquired skills and receive constructive feedback. These skills are crucial for healthcare providers when dealing with tuberculosis patients.
All participants received certificates of completion, acknowledging their dedication to improving their counselling skills and contributing to the NTEP’s mission.
On the last day, Dr Motup Dorje,Mission Director NHM, UT Ladakh thanked the resource person for coming all the way from Delhi to Ladakh to impart training to the NTEP Staff of Ladakh.
He emphasized the participants to implement the Skills in dealing with TB Patients.He further stated that the improvement of counseling soft skills among our frontline NTEP staff is critical in our ongoing efforts to eliminate tuberculosis.
All participants received certificates of completion, acknowledging their dedication to improving their counseling skills and contributing to the NTEP’s mission.
A total number of 25 participants took part in the training program for Kargil and Leh district.
