Leh, Sept 16: In observance of Rashtriya Poshan Maah, a poshan mela was organised by Anganwadi workers from Chuchot, Stok, and Matho at Chushot.
Among the distinguished guests were Councilor Chuchot; Director of Social and Tribal Welfare for UT Ladakh; District Programme Officer, Leh; Sarpanches from Chuchot and Stok, CDPO Leh, the Headmaster of M/S, teachers, health staff, parents, and students.
Poshan Mela served as a platform to showcase a diverse array of traditional foods, organic fruits, and vegetables, effectively conveying the message of the importance of healthy eating. The emphasis was on celebrating nutritious, locally-sourced food options.
Director of Social and Tribal Welfare, UT Ladakh, Tashi Dolma underscored the pivotal role of nutrition in individual well-being and the collective prosperity of the community.
Similarly, CDPO Leh, Tsering Yangdol shared valuable insights into optimal nutrition practices and the resources available to support the community in this endeavor. A highlight of the event was the ‘Swastha Balak/Balika Spardha,’ a competition recognizing the healthiest babies who received well-deserved prizes.
Councilor Chuchot, Mirza Hussain expressed appreciation for the program and encouraged the community to make the most of the available schemes and initiatives aimed at promoting nutrition.
The mela raised awareness about the critical role of nutrition in ensuring the well-being of individuals and the broader community.
