Leh, Sept 13: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) virtually attended the national-level launch of the Ayushman Bhavah Campaign by the Hon’ble President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu and later the launch of the state-level Ayushman Bhavah Campaign held at the DC Conference Hall as the chief guest.
The Ayushman Bhav Campaign is a comprehensive nationwide healthcare initiative of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare that aims to provide saturation coverage of healthcare services, reaching every village and town in the country. This Campaign will be implemented during the ‘Seva Pakhwada’ from September 17 to October 2, 2023.
Terming the event as solemn meant for Jan Kalyan, the HLG appreciated the vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi of coming up with numerous health schemes, which are being carried out with full intensity and transparency for the benefit of crores of Indians. The HLG informed about the pledge taken by his family members to donate their organs to the needy. He stated that the current generation is aware of the importance of donating their organs which is for the betterment of posterity.
The HLG highlighted the need to make a series of activities to be held at all health institutions of Ladakh under the Ayushman Bhavah Campaign to be implemented during the Seva Pakhwada from September 17 to October 2, 2023 successfully through the active participation of the citizens of Ladakh and the health officials. He stressed the importance of achieving the saturation of the distribution/issuance of Ayushman Bharat Golden Card to the beneficiaries in Ladakh. He emphasised the importance of sensitising the people even in the remote villages of Ladakh about the benefits of various health schemes and the importance of their participation for the success of these schemes.
Highlighting the three major components of Ayushman Bhavah Campaign: Ayushman Apke Dwar 3.0 which is aimed at the creation and distribution of Ayushman cards to all remaining eligible beneficiaries; Ayushman Mela as a part of which Weekly Health Melas will be held at the level of AB- HWCs and Community Health Centres (CHCs) and Ayushman Sabha- a village/ward level sabha to be held to enhance awareness about various health care schemes and services, the HLG highlighted the need to motivate/encourage citizens of Ladakh to make the Campaign successful.
Calling health ‘one’s greatest companion,’ the HLG advised everyone to follow a healthy lifestyle for a healthy life. He stated that everyone must strive to make the Ayushman Bhavah Campaign successful at an individual level and encourage others to follow in their footsteps. He hoped that the government officials and citizens of Ladakh would actively participate in making the Ayushman Bhavah Campaign successful so that the set targets could be achieved by October 2.
Advisor to HLG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, while welcoming the guests, informed the HLG that all preparations have been made for the implementation of the Ayushman Bhavah Campaign during the Seva Pakhwada from September 17 to October 2, including the target to provide a health cover of Rs. 5 lakhs per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation to over 12 crores poor and vulnerable families under Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY. He also informed that efforts are on to provide Ayushman Bharat Golden Cards to the beneficiaries in remote areas despite the issue of internet and telecommunication connectivity. He further informed that efforts are being made for the screening of non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and hypertension in a mission mode so that these diseases could be detected early and necessary remedial measures could be taken in this regard.
Dr Kotwal informed about the efforts being made by the Health Department to make Ladakh TB Mukt much before the national target of eliminating tuberculosis by 2025 through Pradhan Mantri YB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
Dr Kotwal flagged off the CB NAAT mobile van for active case finding under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) and also felicitated Ni-kshay Mitra awardees on the occasion. All the attendees pledged to donate their organs.
