Kargil, Sep 12: The pre-event activities for Swachhta Pakhwada, scheduled to take place from September 15 to October 2, 2023, witnessed significant participation across Kargil district today.
Under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Suse, MC Kargil in coordination with other departments and NYK Kargil, conducted a Swachata Pakhawada cleanliness drive at Api Nallah, Kabadi Nallah, and Adul Gund, Kargil.
During the occasion, volunteers of NYK, Supervisor of Municipal Committee Kargil, Inspector MC, Sweepers, Drivers and others were present.
Commending the dedication and hard work of all participants in their endeavor to transform Kargil into a clean district during the ongoing Swachhta Pakhwada, District Coordinator NYK Jigmat Spaldon encouraged everyone to maintain cleanliness within their buildings, premises, and the surrounding areas.
Similarly, ahead of the Swachhta Pakhwada, students of GDC, ITI and Polytechnic Kargil also participated in the cleanliness drive in Ward No. 13 at Baroo Colony. The events were held as part of the pre-event activities ahead of the Swachhta Pakhwada.
Under the guidance of DC Kargil, Shrikant Suse, a waste-to-art competition was conducted at TFC, Kargil. This event was jointly organized by the MC Kargil and the Education Department Kargil.
In the competition 20 students from Government Model School, Lankore, Government Girls Higer Secondary School, Kargil, and Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Baroo participated.
At the event, students showcased their creative talent by transforming common waste items into stunning artworks. The competition’s primary objective was to shift the perspective on waste disposal, emphasizing the importance of reusing and recycling materials instead of allowing them to accumulate in landfill sites.
