Leh, Sept 4: Secretary, Youth Affairs and Sports, Ravinder Kumar today convened a meeting to review the preparation for the Ladakh Marathon 2023 at DC Conference Hall with all the organiser and concerned departments.
Secretary, Sports, Ravinder Kumar inquired about the details of the marathon and advised all the concerned departments and stakeholders to work in a collaborative and coordinated manner to make the event a successful one.
He further instructed PDD department Leh to extend power supply at Khardong village and finishing point at Balkhang as well as activate solar supplies wherever necessary.
He further directed police to ensure that the traffic advisories, contingency plan of emergency evacuation and due process are in place well in advance along with other directions/ meetings required to ensure smooth conduct of the event.
Secretary Ravinder also instructed the PHE Department to monitor water points along all the marathon routes.
Earlier, Organiser, Ladakh Marathon, Chhewang Motup RIMO apprised the Secretary that runners from around 27 countries, and maximum runners from Maharashtra in India will be participating.
He also apprised him of various arrangements and facilities required for the successful organization of the world’s highest and toughest marathon. Informing that the Ladakh Marathon is growing bigger with each passing year with a higher number of participants, Chhewang Motup stressed the need the departments to be more proactive for the event.
Organiser, Chhewang Motup informed that women alliances from different villages have been approached to cheer the runners to encourage and boost their spirit.
DC/CEO, LAHDC Leh; Director, Tourism; Superintending Engineer, Hydraulics; Additional SP Leh; OSD to Secretary, Sports; DYSSO Leh; AD information Department; Deputy Secretary, Culture; officers/officials from PDD, PHE, Army, Air Force and other concerned officers/ officials were present during the meeting.
