LEH: Reacting to the misinformation being spread related to the quality of investigation in the recent POCSO case, the District Police have clarified that the accused was still behind the bars and the case was under trial and being monitored closely by the investigating team.

As per Police, “The recent POCSO case that was registered as FIR No 02/2023 Under Section 5(M)/6 POCSO Act, 363, 307, 376, 201, 323 IPC, 39/192, 146/196, 190 (II) MV act in Women Police Station Leh on 29th of March this year against Syed Zulfikar Ali Shah aka Zul Zul, resident of Thiksay has been thoroughly investigated and was challaned/ chargesheeted in the court of law on 27th of May.”

“There have been reports that misinformation related to the quality of investigation on police part is being spread giving benefit to the accused. District Police Leh puts on record that the investigation has been conducted in a fair manner and all procedures have been followed as per law,” added the Police communiqué.

The accused is still behind the bars and the case is under trial with the Hon’ble Principal Sessions Court and is being monitored closely by the investigating team. General public is requested not to pay heed to any misinformation concerned with the case and those spreading the same would be dealt as per law, they added.
