KARGIL: In the past, the women and children of Kargee village, falling under Taisuru tehsil, spent countless hours every day traveling long distances to fetch water. The lack of reliable access to clean water had been a persistent challenge for the villagers, affecting their overall quality of life. Kargee village has become a symbol of success.
The implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission in Kargee has brought immeasurable relief to the villagers and marked a significant milestone in their development. Every one of the 94 households in this village now has the privilege of having clean, drinkable water readily available in their own homes.
“Previously, our community relied on public water standposts, which unfortunately experienced a recurring issue during the winter season. Freezing temperatures would compel us to temporarily halt the water supply around December or early January. However, the completion of the new Water Supply System (WSS) under the Jal Jeevan Mission in 2022 has revolutionized our situation. Now, we enjoy access to clean drinking water throughout the year, regardless of the season. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Public Health Engineering department and the UT administration for their proactive efforts in making this transformative initiative a reality.” Mohd. Hussain, Village Head, Kargee Said.
With an unwavering commitment to the well-being of its people, the UT administration is actively placing emphasis on improving the lives of its citizens through initiatives like Jal Jeevan Mission. Kargee village serves as a shining example of the transformative power of such initiatives, offering hope and a better future for rural communities across the nation.
