SAMBA: District Samba Softball Championship organized by District Samba Softball Association under ‘My Youth My Pride Initiative’ of J&K Sports Council concluded at Government Higher Seconday School, Birpur, here.

Over 160 players from various registered Clubs and Schools of Samba District participated in Sub-Junior (Boys & Girls), Junior (Boys & Girls) and Senior (Men & Women) sections.

Surjeet SIngh Slathia, Former Minister of Jammu & Kashmir was the chief guest on the concluding ceremony, while Mr Waseem Raja Khan, General Secretary J&K Softball Association and Smt Veena Jamwal, Sarpanch of Village Birpur were the guests of honour.

Mr Munishwar Singh Jamwal, Retd Deputy Commandant, SSB, Mr Nedan Singh Social Activist , Mr Suraj Verma Senior Lecturer, Harvinder Singh Chief Coach of Jammu & Kashmir Softball & Harkesh Singh Jasrotia were also present as Special Guests on the valedictory ceremony.

Special thanks were extended by Waseem Raja Khan to Padam Dev Singh, President District Samba Softball Association, Sudhir Singh, Secretary District Samba Softball Association and Dheeraj Singh Jamwal Techinical Director District Samba Softball Association for organizing the championship in a befitting manner.

He also thanked School Authority especially Smt Anju Devi, Principal Government Higher Secondary School Birpur for providing ground facilities.

Sh Surjeet Singh Slathia, who was chief guest on the occasion lavished praise on the organisers for this fabulous show.

Pradeep Singh, Pawan Kumar, Aman Singh, Sagar Chib, Atul Singh and Ajay Singh were instrumental in making the Championship a grand success.

Later, the Chief Guest distributed medals and trophies among the winners, runners-up and third place teams and encouraged them for further upgrading their sports skill in this potential game. The Championship was fully sponsored by Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council.

Final Results- Men Section: Winners Heavy Hitter Softball Club; Runners-up, Dragon Fire Softball Academy; Third Place, Black Bulls Club

Women Section: Winners, GSS Gurah Slathia; Runners-up, Birpur Softball Club; Third Place, Young Hawks Club.

Junior Boys: Winners, Young Taught Softball Club; Runners-up, Spikers Softball Club; Third Place, Friends Club.

Junior Girls: Winners, Wais Club; Runner-up, Hard Dier Club; Third Place, Peak Vision Club

Sub Junior Boys: Winners, TDS Academy; Runners-up, Dare Softballers; Third Place, Hawks Samba Club.

Sub Junior Girls:  Winners, Unique Sporting Club; Runners-up, Royal Softball Club; Third Place, Angels Softball Club.
