LEH: A delegation comprising Joint Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Shri Rajesh Singh; Director General, National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), Shri MM Tripathy and Director, NIELIT UT Ladakh, Shri Phunchok Toldan called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at Raj Niwas. Advisor to HLG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS, was present in the meeting.
Tripathy informed LG about its NIELIT Centres at Leh and Kargil along with the IT Enabled Incubation Centre for Handicraft and Handloom Sector.
He raised the issue faced by the students due to the bad condition of the approach road leading to the Centre and requested LG’s intervention in this regard.
Tripathy informed LG about various digital literacy courses being provided by them to increase the employability opportunities of the youth. He requested for the inclusion of the NIELIT digital literacy course as eligibility criteria for fresh recruitment and career promotion in UT Ladakh.
Rajesh informed LG about various utility-based applications developed by members of NIC Kargil and requested to provide the necessary support to them for their strengthening. He also informed about the plan to provide training to youth from Ladakh to make them employable for the upcoming solar park project in the Pang area. He also assured to provide assistance to the budding/aspiring start-ups from Ladakh.
The LG assured to look into the issue of the approach road at NIELIT Centre in Kargil along with the promotion of digital literacy programmes in Ladakh for career growth.
Highlighting the need to raise awareness, provide support and promote start-ups in Ladakh, he assured to provide all possible assistance for the benefit of the Ladakhi youth.
He also assured to provide support for the strengthening of NIC in Ladakh. LG also asked to provide training to Ladakhi youth to make them employable for the upcoming solar park project in Pang.
