LEH: Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama will give 3 days of teachings during his month-long visit to the union territory of Ladakh, beginning from July 10, his office informed on Friday.
Dalai Lama’s office in McLeodganj said that during his visit to Ladakh, his holiness will give teachings on the mornings of July 21, 22 and 23 at Choglamsar.
“His Holiness the Dalai Lama will give 3 days of teachings on the mornings of July 21, 22 & 23 at Shewatsel Teaching Ground near Choglamsar at the request of the Ladakh Buddhist Association and the Ladakh Gonpa Association,” Seton Samdup, secretary of the Dalai Lama’s office informed.
“On July 21 and July 22 mornings, His Holiness will give teachings on Gyalsey Thokme Sangpo’s 37 Practices of a Boddhisattva (laklen sodunma). On July 23 morning, His Holiness will confer the Avalokiteshvara Initiation (chenresig wang) followed by a short long life prayer to His Holiness offered by the Ladakh Buddhist Association and the Ladakh Gonpa Association,” the office said.
The spiritual leader, it may be mentioned, is slated to arrive in the Union Territory of Ladakh for a month-long visit, beginning from July 10.
It may be mentioned that the Ladakh Buddhist Association, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Leh and the UT administration have already started making arrangements.
Chief Executive Councillor-cum-Chairman Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Leh Tashi Gyalson and Member of Parliament from Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal has undertaken a number of visits to different parts of the district to personally oversee the arrangements being made for the visit of the Tibetan spiritual leader.
Speaking to The Earth News, Namgyal said that while the tentative schedule of Dalai Lama’s visit is spread over a month, ‘the actual itinerary will depend on the weather and his holiness’ health’.
During this month-long visit, the Dalai Lama will tour several areas in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
Last year also, The Dalai Lama had visited Ladakh for nearly a month and addressed several religious programmes. The Dalai Lama had addressed various spiritual gatherings and visited places of importance. He had also met people from all walks of life. This year, too, he is expected to address the gatherings to bless the people.
