LEH: In a significant development, the union territory of Ladakh is slated to get 432 posts of constables in Ladakh police department.
These posts include 270 posts for the Border Battalion being transferred from Jammu and Kashmir, besides 162 posts for the Women Battalion, further divided equally between Leh and Kargil districts.
This was informed by Member of Parliament from Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal on Friday.
Namgyal said that he had requested Union Minister of Home Amit Shah for transferring 432 posts of Constables from Jammu and Kashmir to Ladakh, which has been accepted.
“I am deeply grateful to the Ministry of Home Affairs, under the leadership of Amit Shah Ji, for promptly addressing my request and issuing necessary directions to the Jammu and Kashmir Government to transfer the post of 432 constables,” the MP said.
The transferred 432 vacant positions including 270 posts for the Border Battalion of police including 135 posts for Leh and 135 posts for Kargil districts.
Besides, 162 posts for the Women Battalion have also been transferred, including 81 each for Leh and Kargil district.
Jamyang Tsering Namgyal said that he has further requested Jammu and Kashmir government to expedite the transfer of posts to Ladakh police.
“In addition, I have urged the Jammu and Kashmir Government to expedite the transfer of these 432 positions to the Ladakh Police. This swift action will enable us to carry out the pending recruitment procedures, providing employment opportunities to our youth and fortifying the Police Administration in the Union Territory of Ladakh,” he said.
