Election Commissioner Pandey in Leh, launches regional version of ECI song

LEH: In a significant development, the Election Commissioner of India Anup Chandra Pandey landed in Leh on Friday, where he reviewed the preparations for the proposed Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls in the union territory of Ladakh.

The election commissioner also released Ladakhi version of ECI’s song ‘Main Bharat Hoon; Hum Bharat ke Matdata Hain’.

Election Commissioner of India, Anup Chandra Pandey arrived in Leh on Friday, where he was received by Yetindra M Maralkar, Chief Electoral Officer, Union Territory of Ladakh and other officials.

The Election Commissioner reviewed the preparations for the proposed Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls in the union territory of Ladakh, an official said.

The Election Commissioner also released the song ‘Nga Gyagar En’ which is the translated version of Election Commission of India’s song ‘Main Bharat Hoon; Hum Bharat ke Matdata Hain’ at Grand Dragon Hotel in Leh.

The song has been produced in the regional language- Ladakhi, and aimed not only at educating the voters regarding their rights and responsibility towards strengthening democracy but also at enthusing them for greater participation in the electoral process.

The song also features local artists and regional icons. The song showed video footage showcasing local and regional culture, sports,  historical places, etc.

The Election Commissioner appreciated the department for the authenticity of the video. He also directed to upload the video on the official websites of the Election Commission of India.

Yetindra M Maralkar, Chief Electoral Officer, Union Territory of Ladakh; Swarn Singh, Deputy Secretary (Election); Additional Deputy Commissioner Leh Sonam Chosjor were also present at the occasion.

“EC Shri Anup Chandra Pandey today released the voter awareness song “Nga Gyagar En’ at Leh. The song prepared by CEO Ladakh is the translated version of ECI song ‘Main Bharat Hoon- Hum Bharat ke Matdata Hain” in Ladakhi language featuring local artists & regional icons,” the election commission of India wrote on Twitter.

“The song showcasing local artists, culture and places aims to educate the voters regarding their rights & responsibility towards strengthening democracy and also enthusing them for greater participation in the electoral process,” it added.
