LEH: Exhorting them to maximize their educational benefits and pave way for a successful career, Commissioner Secretary Padma Angmo on Friday asked the students of Ladakh to fully seize the available opportunities offered by the Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS).
Angmo was speaking at a one-day Counselling cum Awareness Workshop on the Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme 2023-24 organised at Eliezer Joldan Memorial College, Leh, aimed at providing comprehensive guidance and support to students and stakeholders in the Ladakh region.
By fostering knowledge sharing and promoting awareness, the workshop addressed the needs of students who have already registered for PMSSS 2023-24, as well as those in the 11th and 12th standards who are aspiring to benefit from the scholarship in the future.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education Department, Ladakh, Padma Angmo emphasized the importance of the workshop in equipping students with knowledge and resources for informed decision-making.
She urged the attending students to fully seize the available opportunities offered by the PMSSS and emphasized the significance of timely and correct utilization of scholarships, stressing the need to avoid duplication.
“By availing scholarships in the correct manner, students can maximize their educational benefits and pave the way for a successful career,” she said, and wished the students the very best in their pursuit of a suitable career path.
Earlier, Principal of Eliezer Joldan Memorial College, Dr Sameena Iqbal expressing heartfelt gratitude to the AICTE team, who have been serving the people of Ladakh for over a decade.
Member Secretary of AICTE, Professor Rajiv Kumar delivered an insightful lecture on the importance of PMSSS, shedding light on the immense benefits it offers. This was followed by a detailed session by Director at AICTE, Kunal Jeet Singh who provided comprehensive information on the eligibility criteria and various opportunities available through PMSSS.
During the workshop, Guest Speaker Tsering Tashi, a Scientist from the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), informed the attendees about the various benefits of PMSSS. He specifically highlighted the provision of 6 reserved seats at the prestigious Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) exclusively for students from Ladakh under the PMSSS programme. Tashi urged the students not to miss out on this golden opportunity and encouraged them to make the most of it for their future endeavours.
Professor Jigmet Lhundup presented the vote of thanks and stated that the successful workshop signifies the commitment of the Higher Education Department and AICTE to empower students in Ladakh, enabling them to pursue their educational dreams and build a bright future.
The workshop was also attended by Under Secretary, Higher Education Dept, Rigzin Yangdol Director of the Student and Academic Management Group at AICTE, Prof Ajeet Angral, Consultant of the Student and Academic Management Group at AICTE and other officials from EJM and Higher Education Department.
