KARGIL: In a collective effort towards providing students practical sessions of science and technology, the Ladakh Science Foundation (LSF) and Hill Councils are planning to establish Ladakh Science City in in several parts of the union territory.
In this context, Executive Councillor, Social Welfare, LAHDC, Kargil, Agha Syed Mehdi Fazilly and EC Tourism, RD and Zanskar Affairs, LAHDC, Kargil Er Punchok Tashi Friday met Founder Director, Ladakh Science Foundation, Tsering Tashi who presented a presentation in at Council Secretariat regarding the need to establish Ladakh Science City at various places in Ladakh with feasibility of eco-system and scientific importance.
Councilors, Principals and Science Teachers from various schools of Kargil were present on the occasion. At the outset, EC Tashi welcomed the Founder Director, LSF and congratulated him for his contribution and the proposal to scientifically develop Ladakh. He thanked the Director, LSF for sharing his valuable experience with them.
Regarding the proposal to establish Ladakh Science City at various locations of the UT presented by Tsering Tashi in the meeting, EC Tashi said it would be discussed with Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan and with other members of the Hill Council.
EC Tashi appreciated the objectives of the LSF and its dreams to set up Ladakh Science City across various locations in the UT.
The EC said the development and future of Ladakh has to be compulsorily linked with science and scientific developments that suit Ladakh’s ecology. He said commercialization of the primary sector with the help of science is the golden path for Ladakh.
EC Tashi said that involving students in scientific activities is a good idea and it can develop scientific temper among them.
He lauded Tsering Tashi for his commendable efforts in promoting science in Ladakh adding that it is a matter of satisfaction and pride for the entire Ladakh region.
Earlier, the Founder Director in his presentation displayed various achievements and new dreams of the LSF for the development of young minds in Ladakh.
He stressed the need to make efforts in improving and promoting science-based knowledge among students in Ladakh at various levels.
The Founder Director LSF said the country’s development is essentially associated with the development of science and children shape the future by means of science and technological intervention.
He said the main objective of the establishment of Ladakh Science City is to technically improve young students so that they can practically understand deep scientific concepts.
The Founder Director LSF said LSF works across the country and helps students to get involved in practical sessions of science and technology.
In the end, Tsering Tashi requested LAHDC Kargil for its support in bringing new scientific concepts through the establishment of Ladakh Science City in the UT.
