LEH: In a major development, the union ministry of education has allotted 22 seats to Ladakh union territory for its students in various mainland institutions for the academic session 2023-24.
This was informed by Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education Department, Padma Angmo on Thursday.
It may be recalled that the administration here had taken up the issue with the Ministry of Education, Government of India in the year 2022, requesting for making provision of reserved seats for students from Ladakh considering lack of Engineering College in the newly formed UT.
“Ladakh has been allotted 22 seats under ongoing scheme of Reservation of seats in Engineering, Technology, Architecture and Pharmacy courses for the academic sessions 2023-24,” she said.
Angmo informed that the above-mentioned courses are conducted at Degree level technical institutions approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Universities for States and UTs which do not have Engineering Colleges or lack facilities for education in specific fields of Technical Education, and for certain categories including foreign students.
“As per the latest communication from the Ministry of Education, the Central Seat Allocation Board NEUT-2023, NIT Rourkela has issued the Seat Allocation Schedule for CSAB- NEUT, 2023 for allotment of various degree level Engineering, Architecture and Pharmacy seats reserved in mainland institutions for the students of Ladakh for the academic year 2023-24,” she said.
It is for the information of all the interested students and candidates that the scheduled date for online provisional registration, uploading of documents, verification of documents, choice filling and seat allotment will be starting from 26th June, 2023 onwards, an official handout read.
Online provisional Registration and uploading of documents starts from 26th June to 3rd July, 2023. The seats are available to only those students who qualify the JEE (Main) examination.
The applicant necessarily should be a domicile of Ladakh, it added.
“Interested candidates from UT Ladakh for allotment against seats offered for degree level Engineering, Architecture and Pharmacy courses at mainland institutes may go through the website https://csab.nic.in/csab-neut/ and directly apply online with Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB NEUT)- 2023,” it said.
Other general Information, Institutional availability of seats, flow chart, etc. will be made available at www.csab.nic.in and they may carefully follow the instructions and complete the online registration/choice filling process which is scheduled from June 26, 2023 onwards.
