LEH: Nearly 13 families of migrant workers were rendered shelterless as their “Jhuggis” at Shakshaling area were razed to ashes in a devastating fire this afternoon.
However, no loss of life or injury was reported in the incident.
According to an eye-witness, the cluster of seven to eight “Jhuggis” caught fire this afternoon and it was so intense that it engulfed all the “Jhuggis” within few minutes giving no chance to people to control it.
“Noticing the fire, some passer byes immediately dialled to Fire & Emergency Services. The fire-brigade reached the spot and doused the flames but the belongings of the poor families could not be saved, he added.
According to police, 13 families were residing in those Jhuggis and none of them was hurt due to this incident. However, police said that cause of fire was being ascertained.
Meanwhile, the district administration immediately announced temporary relief to the affected families. As per reports, tents were being erected for the affected people besides, food was also provided to them.
