JAMMU: Divisional Commissioner, Ramesh Kumar chaired a meeting Wednesday in his office chamber to discuss and review the execution of Jammu City beautification Plan.
One of the major focuses of the meeting was the completion of mural painting, particularly along the Jammu Airport road. The Divisional Commissioner emphasised the need to expedite the wall painting art work to create an appealing visual experience for the residents and visitors alike.
The other prominent topic of the discussion was the identification of suitable garbage dumping sites within the city. The Divisional Commissioner stressed on the importance of maintaining cleanliness and ensuring timely lifting of waste to enhance the overall aesthetics of Jammu city.
Recognising the significance of certain landmarks in Jammu city, the Div Com instructed the concerned authorities to focus on the beautification of the road leading to Jammu University and Bagh-e-Bahu temple.
The cleaning of roads, flyovers and clearing of side drains also received attention during the meeting.
The Divisional Commissioner underlined the importance of maintaining the infrastructure and ensuring that the city’s thoroughfares are free from obstructions. Additionally, he highlighted the necessity of proper pruning of trees along the roads, followed by their immediate disposal, to prevent traffic congestion.
Recognising the importance of smooth traffic movement, especially during the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, the Divisional Commissioner directed the officers from the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) to expedite their ongoing projects. He stressed the need to ensure that the road infrastructure is in optimal condition to accommodate the increased influx of pilgrims during the Yatra.
Furthermore, the Divisional Commissioner called for immediate removal of construction waste that accumulates on the roads during and after the execution of infrastructure projects. The directive aimed to prevent any public inconvenience or obstructions caused by the debris and maintain the cleanliness of the city.
Calling for smooth movement of traffic, the Div Com instructed the responsible officers to address any infrastructure and maintenance-related issues pertaining to the fourth Jammu Tawi bridge.
Among other instructions, the Divisional Commissioner emphasized the importance of maintaining rotaries, footpaths, and other pedestrian-friendly infrastructure within the city.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Avny Lavasa; Director Tourism, Vivekanand Rai; Commissioner JMC, Rahul Yadav; VC JDA, Chief Engineers of PWD, Irrigation besides various senior officers of concerned departments.
