JAMMU: Ahead of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Jammu on June 26 to attend a security conclave organized by BJP in run up of party’s Maha Jan Sampark Abhiyaan on completion of NDA government’s 9 years.

This will be second visit of a national leader to Jammu and Kashmir in 4 days. Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to visit the region on June 23.

Party sources informed that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Jammu on June 26 where he will be addressing an important security conclave in which security experts and media personalities are expected to participate.

“The conclave being organized by the J&K unit of the BJP is a first-of-its-kind initiative and will provide an opportunity for the speakers to discuss security-related issues of the UT,” sources said.

This will be Rajnath Singh’s second visit in less than two months. The Defence Minister had visited the border Rajouri district on May 6, a day after a terror attack in the Kandi area in which five Army soldiers were killed.

Prior to the Kandi attack, five more soldiers were killed at Mendhar in neighbouring Poonch district on April 20.

Under BJP’s Maha Jan Sampark Abhiyaan, several Union Ministers lined up their programmers in Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier, Union Minister Smriti Irani, Hardeep Singh Puri, Ajay Bhatt, Arjun Ram Meghwal and others visited various areas of Jammu and addressed public rallies.
