KARGIL: With the year 2023 going to be a busy one with elections of the Hill Council, Panchayat and Municipality approaching soon, Kargil district has geared up to achieve the highest participation of people in the election process.
In this regard, Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Santosh Sukhadeve, who is also District Election Officer (DEO) Kargil, on Wednesday convened a review meeting regarding pre-revision activities for Special Summary Revision of electoral rolls with reference to 01-01-2024.
SDM Zanskar, Sonam Dorjay, Assistant Labour Commissioner (Dedicated AERO Kargil), DPO/AD Information Kargil, Tehsildars (AEROs) and BLO Supervisors, District Nodal Officer (SVEEP), Incharge Nodal Officer (ELC Kargil), Mohd Amin, along with his team, Election Naib Tehsildar Kargil and other concerned officers and officials were present in the meeting.
At the outset, the DC took a detailed review of the action plan for smooth and successful conduct of the Special Summary Revision (SSR) of Electoral Rolls.
During the meeting, the DEO was informed in detail about various aspects of the Special Summary Revision and the pre-revision activities.
Speaking on the occasion, the DEO said that the prime objective of the SSR is to keep the Electoral Roll updated and to provide an opportunity to get fresh enrolment of young eligible voters having attained the age of 18 or more as on qualifying date and to give opportunities for correction in particulars of electors and also to invite objections against any wrong inclusion in the Electoral Roll.
On the occasion, the DEO asked concerned officers to be proactive to generate awareness and activate resources for the successful conduct of all SVEEP programmes across the district.
He also directed the SVEEP team and Information Department Kargil for the close coordination for design and wide publicity of the election slogans, posters etc. to the people for awareness of electorates.
The DC said that this year is very busy as for as election process is concerned as the elections of the Hill Council, Panchayat and Municipality are approaching.
He directed all the officers to work sincerely so that the highest participation of people in the election process can be achieved.
Later, a training session was held in which detailed training was given on SSR and pre-revision activities like rationalization of polling stations, updation of BLOs and BLO supervisors etc.
As part of the program, the master trainer from Election IT cell shared the knowledge and experience regarding the SSR with participants and gave practical training to them.
The Mater Trainer also informed the participants about the types of electoral rolls. AEROs and BLO Supervisors were fully trained in the online applications for the SSR program.
The master trainers enlightened the AEROs, BLO Supervisors about different aspects of the registration of BLOs, Polling Booths, upgradation of facilities, registration of new voters, updation of details and other relevant aspects.
