JAMMU: For smooth sailing and to facilitate the 62-day long Shri Amarnath Yatra, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have ordered deployment of more than 100 ‘men in khakhi’ including the top officers at the base camps, twin routes and at the cave shrine.

Official sources said that more than 100 police officers are deployed for Shri Amarnath Yatra to be supervised by the officers of Additional Director Generals of Police (ADGsP) in both Jammu and Kashmir Zones.

“More than 100 officers have been posted as in-charge at their respective places for the yatra period including Baltal and Pahalgam and both Jammu and Kashmir divisions will have to work overall under the chairmanship of ADGsP,” official sources added.

They said that the officers will remain deployed during the 62-day duration of the yatra.

As per official sources, SP Sanjay Rana has been appointed as in-charge of Charri Mubakar Yatra, adding, “the deployment of these officers will be made by June 20 and apart from officers deployment, one thousand additional personnel will be deployed during yatra.”

SSP Kaushal Kumar has been posted at Pahalgam and Sanjeev Khajuria has been appointed at Baltal.

Moreover, sources said that SSP Dushyant Sharma has also been posted at Pahalgam, Naresh Singh Jamwal at Baltal, Vishal Manhas at Sheshnag, Sachin Gupta at Panjtarni, Irshad Hussain at Joint Police Center Baltal, Masroor Ahmed at Pahalgam, Sanjay Bhagat at Manigam Base Camp, Surjit Kumar, Munish Kumar and Ramnish Kumar have been appointed as in-charges at the Cave Shrine.

The ADGP of Kashmir has also been authorised to avail the services of 33 Deputy Superintendents of Police and 29 Probationer DySsP.

Sources added that six officers of Superintendent of Police (SP) level have been posted with ADGP Jammu that includes Aftab Sheikh, Sanjay Sharma, Madan Mohan Singh, Chandrajit Singh, Rakesh Kumar Parihar and Riyaz Iqbal Tantre.

“As many as 27 DySP rank officers have also been attached with ADGP Jammu, who has been authorised to avail their services anytime during the yatra period,” sources added.

They further said that at the same time, 36 police companies will also be at the disposal of the ADGP Armed Police and two companies of 50 police personnel each are deployed in both Jammu and Kashmir divisions.

Sources said that five SP level officers have been appointed along with ADGP Security including Safdar Hameed Hasan, Altaf Hussain, Sajjad Ahmed Sheikh, Naseer Ahmed and Rajinder Singh Rahi.

Sources further said that 18 DySsP will be attached with ADGP security and 12 with IG traffic while DIG Central Kashmir Range, Sujit Kumar and Raees Ahmed SKR will make arrangements for the travel with the SSPs of their respective districts.

Sources however, added that the registration process for ponies has been set into motion from Tuesday at Sonamarg tourist Center in Ganderbal district.
