Leh: In a follow-up meeting, Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Shrikant Suse reviewed the preparation and compilation of data, as directed previously, for the smooth conduct of the grievance redressal camp/bench scheduled on 16th June by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) about child rights and entitlements of children in the presence of NCPCR team and concerned stakeholders.

As directed by the District Administration, awareness regarding the NCPCRs grievance redressal camp was held in different blocks to assess and identify cases related to violation and deprivation of rights and entitlements of children to be redressed during the said NCPCR camp/bench.

The concerned departments of Social Welfare, Health, ICDS, and Education informed that most cases relate to documentation, financial sponsorship, and severe health-related cases.

DC Leh added that the grievances from the far-off areas like Nyoma, Durbuk, Khaltse and Nubra would be resolved online through a video conferencing facility. He directed the concerned departments to ensure that the data collection, including vulnerability mapping along with the convergence of schemes facilitating the redressal of grievances, should be completed as per the guidelines and requirements of NCPCR to avoid duplicity of cases.

It was informed that theHealth Department would put up stalls of Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram-medical checkups of children, Golden Card and UDID registration, and services of specialist doctors. Similarly, other departments, including Social Welfare, ICDS, and Education along with NGOs and Banks would put up stalls displaying their services and works.

Elimination of Child Labour or children in distress, Juvenile Justice, Care of neglected or marginalised children or children with disabilities, Begging, Child Abuse and Neglect, Child Care Institutions, Child education & health, and laws governing child welfare and safety, etc would be redressed and discussed during the camp.

Representatives from NCPCR; Senior Superintendent of Police, Leh, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Leh, besides officers/officials from various departments, including ICDS Leh, PWD, PHE, Medical, Education, Social Welfare, Labour, Municipal Committee, RDD, Transport, DIET, District Legal Service Authority, Juvenile Justice Board, DLSA, Child Welfare Committee, Special Cell for women and child, Mahila Shakti Kendra, various concerned NGOs, volunteers and All SDMs, BDOs, and other concerned officials participated in the meeting.
