LEH: Ladakh witnessed a solemn moment on Monday as the region bid farewell to one of the revered spiritual leaders, His Eminence the 9th Ladakh Chosje Togdan Rinpoche with wet eyes.
The funeral ceremony was held at Photang Urgyan Dorjey Choszong in Saboo which brought together eminent dignitaries, respected community and spiritual leaders, and countless devotees who came to pay their final respects to the 9th H E Late Chosje Togdan Rinpoche.
His Eminence, Chosje Togdan Rinpoche Konchok Thupstan Stanpey Gyaltsan Pal Zangpo passed away and attained mahaparinirvana on May 24, sending the entire union territory in a wave of shock and grief. He was 84.
Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier Dr B D Mishra (Retd), Chairman and CEC of LAHDC Leh, Tashi Gyalson, and Member of Parliament from Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal paid last respect to H E Late Chosje Togdan Rinpoche.
Other distinguished attendees were the Executive Councillors and Councillors of LAHDC Leh, Monks from different monasteries, led by H E Yuda Rinpoche, H E Drukpa Thuksey Rinpoche, H E Urgyan Rinpoche, H E Rangdol Nyima Rinpoche, Presidents of different socio-religious organisations including LBA, LGA, Muslim and Christian Community, and representatives from political organisations. People from all walks of life came to offer last respect and honour the life and teachings of the 9th H E Ladakh Chosje Togdan Rinpoche.
As a renowned and respected spiritual as well as a political leader of Ladakh, H E Ladakh Chosje Togdan Rinpoche has tirelessly worked towards the betterment of the community, fostering harmony and unity among people of different backgrounds.
“The passing of His Eminence Ladakh Chosje Togdan Rinpoche leaves a void in the hearts of the Ladakhi community, but his teachings and legacy will continue to inspire generations to come,” an official spokesperson of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh said and prayed for a swift incarnation of Rinpoche once again in Ladakh.
