JAMMU: Riding strong on the back of its robust education model, extensive focus on research and meticulously structured holistic development of the students, SP Smart School has yet again proved its mettle, with its students bagging 15 top positions and an impressive number of 583 students achieving 75% and above marks in the Class 12th results for the year 2023 declared by the Jammu & Kashmir Board of School Education on Friday.

In this, the SP Smart School has saved the face of Jammu province, bagging almost one-fourth of all positions by government and private schools across the ten districts of the region, in the results, which are unusually skewed towards the Kashmir region this time around.

It may be mentioned here that for the first time, the UT government made significant changes to policies and practices pertaining to school education, holding the joint examination of the class 12th of the Jammu Zone and Kashmir Zone. While the ambitious project of the Jammu and Kashmir education department, despite a number of procedural weaknesses, was handled professionally by the J&K Board of School Education, there was only so much it could do.

The result, also seen by many as unfair to Jammu, brought the contrast between the two regions, with Jammu region getting only 68 of the 287 positions—a meagre 23.69%, while students of the Kashmir zone bagged 219 positions.

Of the 68 positions secured by students of ten districts of Jammu region, SP Smart School bagged 22.05% of them, thus saving the face of Jammu region.

The SP Smart School topped in the Merit list with highest number of positions among all private schools in Jammu and Kashmir, highest positions among all schools in Jammu Province and second highest in all schools—private and government– in the entire union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, proving once again why it has remained the choicest educational institution for the students of Jammu and Kashmir for years altogether.

The experts see this skewed result as an unfair advantage given to the students of Kashmir region who got six-seven extra months to prepare for the examinations.

“While the education department must be looking at the long-term benefits by bringing uniformity among the region, this has in turn resulted into grave inequality to the students of Jammu region, which cannot be compensated,” said a noted educationist.

Of the 161 positions in science stream, students from Jammu region could secure only 24 positions, while in arts stream, only 12 of the 53 positions went to Jammu region. In Home Sciences, it was a clean sweep by Kashmir, while things could stand fair only in commerce stream, where 32 students from Jammu and 31 from Kashmir region bagged top positions.

Amidst all this, SP Smart School, the leading and trusted institution of Jammu has once again come to the rescue of Jammu region by attaining exceptional results in the Class 12th examination.

“Our results are a testament to the unwavering dedication and commitment of the students, as well as the hard work put in by the teachers and the administration. This remarkable achievement reflects the school’s commitment to academic excellence and its tireless efforts in providing quality education to its students,” an official statement from the school said.

The 15 students who secured top positions have not only brought laurels to themselves but have also brought immense pride to SP Smart School and Jammu and Kashmir. Their outstanding performance is a reflection of their perseverance, determination, and the support they received from their teachers and parents.

In Commerce stream, Shriya Pathania and Vanshika Mahajan, students of SP Senior Secondary School Bari Brahmana Samba bagged second positions, with 98% marks each, while Manya Gupta bagged 4th position with 97.6% marks, Minerva Changotra bagged 6th position with 97.2% marks, Bhoomi Gupta and Mehak Sharma bagged 8th position with 96.8%, while 10th position was bagged by Atifa Zahra who scored 96.4%

While Manya, Bhoomi and Atifa are students of SP Higher Secondary School Exchange Road Jammu, Minerva, Mehak are students of SP Senior Secondary School Bari Brahmana Samba.

In Science stream, ninth position was bagged by Navjot Singh and Tanush Kumar, both scoring 97.6% marks, while Akansha Sharma and Shivam Gupta bagged 10th position with 97.4% marks. Navjot and Akansha are students of SP Senior Secondary School Bari Brahmana Samba while Tanush and Shivam are students of S P Higher Secondary School Exchange Road Jammu.

Four students secured positions in the Arts stream. They include Himani Sharma, who bagged 6th position with 98%, while 10th rank was secured by Radhika Choudhary, Isha Bhagat and Urvi Sharma, scoring 97.2% marks. Himani, Radhika and Urvi are students of S P Higher Secondary School Exchange Road Jammu while Isha is a student of SP Senior Secondary School Bari Brahmana Samba.

In addition to the outstanding positions, SP Smart School is delighted to announce that a significant number of its students have achieved 75% and above marks in the Class 12th examinations. This achievement demonstrates the overall dedication and academic prowess of the student body, highlighting their ability to consistently excel in their studies.

These include 46 students who have scored more than 95% and 156 students who have scored more than 90% marks.
