LEH: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor of LAHDC Leh, Tashi Gyalson along with Executive Councillor for Information Technology, Stanzin Chosphel, and Executive Councillor for Minority & Forest, Ghulam Mehdi, paid a visit to the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELET) center in Leh.

The officials were welcomed by Director NIELIT, Phuntsog Toldan.

During his last visit to the center, CEC Gyalson suggested the interns at the Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) Hub for the implementation of a pilot project to create a ‘Solarised Curtain.’

Today, the interns at the STI Hub presented their remarkable achievement, the ‘Solarised Curtain,’ to the Chairman and the Executive Councillors.

CEC Gyalson was deeply impressed by the performance of the interns and expressed his utmost appreciation for their outstanding work in successfully developing the ‘Solarised Curtain’ with their creativity, and commitment to addressing local challenges through technological innovation.  Recognising its potential impact, he urged Director NIELIT to focus on further improvisation and scaling of the project for broader utilisation.

Meanwhile, Gyalson attended an Awareness cum Training program organized by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research – Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (CSIR-IIIM) for farmers in Leh Ladakh.

The training program was organised as part of CSIR-IIIM’s ongoing initiative, the ‘One Week One Lab Campaign.’ On the sixth day of this campaign, the focus was on imparting valuable knowledge to farmers regarding cultivation techniques, product development, marketing strategies, and hands-on training for distillation and value addition crops. Additionally, the program aimed to foster meaningful connections between scientists and farmers, facilitating knowledge exchange and collaboration.

The program was addressed by the esteemed dignitaries emphasising the importance of empowering farmers and promoting sustainable agricultural practices which they believed will significantly contribute to the development of agriculture in Leh Ladakh.

It also had demonstrations, and engaging discussions, providing a platform for participants to exchange ideas, learn from experts, and explore potential collaborations.

While CEC Gyalson was the chief guest, the guests of honor were EC Agriculture, Stanzin Chosphel, and EC Horticulture Ghulam Mehdi. The event was also attended by Scientist CSIR-IIIM Dr Kazi Parvez, other scientists and officials of CSIR-IIM, professors, researchers, entrepreneurs, farmers, and students.
