KARGIL: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) visited Government Senior Secondary School at Silmoo on the first day of his tour to Kargil.

Chairman, LAHDC Kargil, Feroz Ahmed Khan and Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Santosh Sukhdeve were present during LG’s visit to the school.

The LG visited the Atal Tinkering Lab, the Vocational Lab (Tourism and Hospitality), Computer and Science labs, where he interacted with students and inquired about various activities being carried out by them at the school.

Principal of the school, Phuntsog Dorjey, welcomed the guests and gave a brief introduction about the school, its academic achievements and the facilities being provided to students at the school.

Chairman, LAHDC Kargil, Feroz Ahmed Khan informed LG about the Government Higher Secondary School at Silmoo being one of the best higher senior secondary schools in the entire Kargil district which provides the best possible facilities to school students.

He appreciated the faculty and other staff of the school for helping students achieve academic excellence in board exams. He requested for LG’s intervention in providing assistance for fuel and the salary of the driver for the school bus.

Commending the academic standard of the school, the LG advised the girl students of the school to perform well in their studies and make their way into the Top 15 list of meritorious students in board exams.

He highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative to empower women and promote entrepreneurs. He advised the students to learn to think about the betterment of society and the need to take initiative in all fields.

The LG advised students to abstain from indulging in drug and alcohol abuse and asked them to oppose if they find someone indulging in suspicious activities. He also advised them to follow proper conduct and also think about the welfare of others.

He informed students about the challenges in providing jobs to everyone and the need to come up with their own startups and entrepreneurial ventures to become job providers instead of job-seekers.

Students of the school performed cultural dance on the occasion. Vice-Principal of the school, Nawang, gave the vote of thanks.
