LEH: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) flagged off Tourist Police, Highway Patrol and City Patrol units of Ladakh Police from Raj Niwas. He also handed over the Diesel Generator (DG) set to Sub-District Hospital at Disket in Nubra sub-division.

Speaking on the occasion, LG informed that the flagging of these units is linked to his aspirations to make Ladakh a ‘Corruption and Delay-Free’ UT. He stated that these units will facilitate in ensuring a secure and safe environment for the people of Ladakh and also the tourists.

12 city patrols will be used for patrolling purposes in Leh town, especially at schools, colleges, parks and public places while tourist police vehicles and highway patrol vehicles would provide assistance to tourists and the public and also help them in emergency situations.

The tourist police vehicles and highway patrol vehicles will be stationed at different locations in Nubra, Khaltsi and Changthang. A total of six tourist police vehicles and nine highway patrols laden with first aid kits, basic oxygen cylinders and rescue items, satellite phones and wireless sets for usage where mobile networks don’t work, have been deployed in these areas

LG also handed over the 625 kVA DG set to Sub-District Hospital at Disket in Nubra sub-division to meet their power supply requirements.

Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Tashi Gyalson; Member of Parliament from Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal; Executive Councillors from LAHDC Leh- Ghulam Mehdi and Stanzin Chosphel; Councillor Panamik, Tsering Sangdup; Principal Secretary, Dr Pawan Kotwal; ADGP Ladakh Police, Satish Khandare; Commissioner Secretary, Ajeet Kumar Sahu; Commissioner Secretary, Saugat Biswas; Commissioner Secretary, Padma Angmo; Secretary, Ravinder Kumar; Secretary, Mehboob Ali Khan; Secretary, Yetindra Maralkar; Secretary Fayaz Ahmed Sheikh; Deputy Commissioner Leh, Shrikant Suse; SSP Leh, PDNitya; Director Health Services, Dr Motup Dorje and other officials were present during the flag-off ceremony.
