Leh: Ladakh union territory is going to organize first of its kind LG Ladakh Super League Football Championship wherein a total of 32 teams are expected to participate.
In this regard, a proposal was submitted to Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) by Secretary, Ladakh Football Association (LFA), Tsering Angmo.
During the proposal submission, Tsering Angmo informed the LG that 32 teams from Leh and Kargil districts would participate in the championship.
She further informed that the winner of the championship would qualify for the Hero I-League 2nd Division. The championship would help in identifying new talents from Ladakh and provide a platform for them to showcase their talents, she said.
Approving the proposal, the LG highlighted the need to set a bar/standard for physical fitness among the players. He stated that the players, who fail to achieve the desired physical fitness bar/standard, should be provided extra training. He also emphasised the need to provide game skills to the players.
On April 21, members of the Ladakh women’s football team which participated in the Hero Senior Women National Championship at Bhilai, Chhattisgarh interacted with the LG.
Jigmet, who scored all three goals in Ladakh’s 3-1 win over Jammu and Kashmir, informed LG that they were nervous before the tournament as they were participating in the Nationals for the first time.
She also informed that despite several challenges the team gave their best during the Nationals and assured LG to perform better in future tournaments.
