Leh: Accusing certain media houses of hurting the sentiments of the people of Ladakh by spreading wrong propaganda against the Dalai Lama, Chief Executive Councillor and Chairman of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Leh, Tashi Gyalson on Monday said that the representatives of these media channels should not be allowed to land in Leh for the coverage of upcoming Y20 pre-summit.
“Such media houses and the fake influencers who have hurt the sentiments of Ladakh and its people by running a negative campaign to defame His Holiness Dalai Lama are not allowed in Ladakh for #G20 session and shooting,” the CEC told The Earth News on Monday.
Gyalson condemned the conspiracy to defame the Dalai Lama, and emphasised the need to create awareness against irresponsible journalism.
“This is the sentiment of the people and I endorse it. I hope the union government will not let them travel to Leh for the coverage (of the pre-summit) and protect our sentiment from further hurting,” Gyalson told this scribe.
The CEC said that the media houses and the ‘fake-influencers’ should apologise for their mistake for ‘legitimizing unverified and untrue propaganda’.
He also appealed to people & media houses to check facts before sharing messages on social media and to disseminate authentic news.
At the gathering, Member of Parliament from Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal said: “The whole world is condemning this action, in Ladakh people from all religions have gathered in solidarity with Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama.
“It is unacceptable to use such hateful words against a world leader. His teachings should not be misinterpreted,” said the MP.
