Leh: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) held a meeting to review land and wildlife issues in a high-level meeting attended by the representatives from the Army, Hill Council Leh, Member of Parliament from Ladakh and departmental secretaries, wherein he also reviewed Army-Civil coordination issues.
LG discussed issues related to the need for re-notifications of Army firing ranges in Leh and Kargil; the need to expedite the completion of the Khalsar-Agham-Shayok Road at the earliest; the issue of discontinuity of Indian Air Force flights between Chandigarh to Thoise; the issue of transfer of land; dumping and segregation by the Army; the issue faced by Army due to objection from the Truck Union in transporting fuel to its units; the issue in the implementation of RCS Udan 2.0 scheme at Thoise; the construction of schools on land occupied by Army; the need to renew the contract of the Cooperative Society to supply vegetables to the Army; the need to achieve saturation of 4G towers at 379 uncovered sites by the end of 2023 along with BSNL’s failure to share the coordinates of the land for the towers; the need to define boundaries of wildlife sanctuaries and national parks in Ladakh along with ensuring the rights entitled to the inhabitants of the people living in these areas, etc.
